iShop @ Cineleisure to close
Posted on 2 June, 2009 by Jimmy Liew

As reported in Straits Times, iShop by Club 21, an Apple reseller with one of the biggest store, will be closing by the end of June.
When asked why iShop was closing its doors, the spokesman said: ‘The global economic crisis has affected consumer spending across the board, correspondingly affecting both the retail and consumer electronics industry.’ So it has decided to take the ‘difficult but necessary’ business decision to axe its Apple outlet to focus on its ‘core strengths: namely, fashion and wellness’.
Located at Cineleisure, right in the heart of Orchard Road, the shop, which was opened by local luxury retailer Club 21, has been tagged by some as the poshest of the various Apple resellers here in Singapore. With a spacious 10,000 ft, the store looks closest to Apple Stores in the US, with sufficient space for customers to mingle amongst the latest gadgets from Apple. It also houses an in-store training centre for Mac hardware and software lessons.
Its a pity iShop has to close, as it is probably the closest we get to having an Apple Store in Singapore. However, while one store closes, it is not soon enough to have another popping out. The next to be opened is at Ion Orchard where EpiCentre will open a new branch at the latest mall in Orchard. There will also be another from iStudio that will open at Orchard Central, which is also launching in the next few weeks.
If you are looking out for good deals, do keep a look out for opening sales from these new stores, they might have something you want. Also, check out iShop for their clearance sale.
