iPhone 3GS pricing out from SingTel

6 July, 2009

SingTel has finally released the pricing plans for the iPhone 3GS for the launch this Friday.

iphone3gs-singtel-price

The prices of the handset ranges from S$0 (for the iFlexi Premium, mthly fee S$205) to S$548 (16GB model) and S$678 (32GB mode) while the iPhone 3G price drop to S$398 for the cheapest iFlexi Lite plan.

There is still a fair bit of confusion over how or what upgrading plans are provided for existing iPhone 3G users as it is not clearly stated on their site. Although in this Straits Times article, upgraders can get the new phone without having to extend their existing contract and trade-in the phone for up to S$400.

It will also allow SingTel iPhone 3G users who have been with the company for at least six months to upgrade to the new model, without having to extend their contract lengths. Their existing handsets will have a trade-in value of up to $400.

The upgrading information provided by Singtel, especially for existing iPhone 3G customers are still pretty hazy. What’s known so far is this:

  • penalty for those who bought iPhone 3G and only fulfilled between 6-12 mths of contract is S$600
  • penalty for those who bought iPhone 3G and fulfilled between 12-21 mths of contract is S$300
  • for those who register and reserved to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS during the 10-12 July launch at the Comcentre, can get a S$300 off the penalty if they take a 24 month contract (not absolutely sure as there are differing information about this)
  • a trade-in value of iPhone 3G at S$400 for the 16GB iPhone 3G and S$300 for 8GB iPhone 3G (prices based on trade-in value shown at singtelshop.com)

For those who are switching from Starhub or M1, you can switch over to SingTel and get the iPhone 3GS with a $100 discount off your iPhone 3GS when you sign up a new 24-month iFlexi Plan.

OR if you sign up for a mio Home plan – your home line, SingNet BroadBand and mioTV bundle – with a new iPhone 3GS mobile line, you can get an additional S$150 off the phone purchase

Anyone with more info do let me know.

I can only say this – go down to Comcentre this weekend at your own risk as the queue will probably be long with not just new customers, but high chances there will be a fair number from existing iPhone 3G customers who wants to upgrade and confused by the rather hazy upgrading information.

Are you getting the iPhone 3GS this Friday? Unfortunately, I won’t.
