Some Fashion iPhone apps [Giveaway]

So. For the past few months, you have been hearing two men wax lyrical about Apple. It’s been all about performance and hardware and testosterone talk in general. Well, it’s going to change a little now.

If it’s not obvious enough, I am a girl and I love my iPhone and my MacBook, which I had named Ingrid. The iPhone is Isabella, by the way. I use my iPhone quite differently from the way my husband does. As someone who loves fashion and is constantly trying to get up to date on what’s happening on the catwalk and on the streets, I find that my iPhone has become handy for those pockets of time when I have nothing to do. Here are a few apps that are fun, frivolous and absolutely related to fashion.

Jojo’s Fashion Show (iTunes Link – US$1.99)

If you are a Sally Salon or Sally Spa fan like I am, then you will love Jojo’s Fashion Show. You are a fashion designer who needs to put together winning looks for the models to sashay down the runway. Off the catwalk, you also have to work on fashion shoots. There’s even drama in the form of an angsty relationship with your co-designer of a mother and a budding romance with a photographer. It’s absolutely addictive!

Channel your inner Tim Gunn and, to quote the sage mentor – Make it work.

iBags (iTunes Link – free) / iShoes (iTunes Link – free)

These two apps are the sort of apps that are truly no-brainers. What they do is show you pictures of bags and shoes, and details such as price and shops where you can buy them. But it makes me feel good ogling at beautiful products, especially when I am sitting atop the toilet bowl (TMI?) and not in the mood to use the grey matter to string words together to score points.

Style.com (iTunes Link – free)

For unparalleled access to the fashion shows, you can’t beat Style.com. They have runway pictures of all the designers showing at the various fashion weeks, celeb pictures and post-show parties. The best place to know what Madam Prada has put on the runway at the New York Fashion Week, really. Because of the magnificent resolution and clarity of the iPhone screen (these are strictly not technical terms, obviously), the photos jump out at you and makes you long to swish around in those the luxurious tweed full skirts.

Kate Spade New York Agenda (iTunes Link – free)

Hands up, those of you who love, LOVE the ads that Kate Spade puts out. Vintage-style, beautifully shot, a touch of whimsical…everything about the ads makes me feel like floating off into the blue sky with a bunch of balloons while wearing a nautical dress with a giant bow. The app is a beautiful version of calendar, where you can key in your appointments and tasks. But the pièce de résistance is the artwork that signals the start of each month. Gorgeous prints that you can use as wallpapers and voila, you have a piece of Kate Spade on your phone.

Stylebook (iTunes Link – US$3.99)

Those with Type A personalities will surely rejoice in this app. This is as close to having your closet in your hands as it gets. Think the movie Clueless, except that instead of having an inventory of your belongings on the computer, it’s in your iPhone.

You can take pictures of the items that you already have or export available pictures on your computer or on the Internet. I really like the nifty feature which helps to fade out the background of your picture and turns it into a studio-worthy product shot. You can organize your massive wardrobe into different categories and even put together an outfit based on what you have. Not sure if that dress is a little over the top? Email it to a friend. The app is really chic and simple to use. Start with the Lite version, which is free, if you are not certain but you will probably end up with the full version.

And for four lucky readers here or in the Apple SG Facebook group – you can get your hands on a promo code to let you download the Stylebook for free! Simply let us know that you want this and 4 random readers will be chosen to get the promo code.

Note as usual – the promo code applies only for the US iTunes store and the give-away will end 27 March.

Please let me have a stylebook promo code. I need it badly. If I can just help my wife organise her clothes, then perhaps I don’t have to hang all my shirts in the hall.
