iPad scheduled for July launch
Apple has announced plans to release the iPad in Singapore some time in July. In the press release to confirmed the date for the first round of countries to receive the iPad, they also placed Singapore, together with Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands and New Zealand to receive the iPad two months later.
The following countries will receive the iPads from May 28: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. The pre-order begins on May 10 for them.
Prices for these countries are as follows:
I’ve made some non-scientific, rough calculation and came up with a possible pricing for Singapore. This is based on looking at the differences between US prices and SG prices across all product lines and also the just released international pricing of the iPad.
The estimates here are probably at the higher-end of the spectrum:
Let’s hope that the prices will be lower than what I estimated here.
This announcements will probably rock those stores across the island that have imported US-released sets with prices for say the 64GB going up to S$1400.
So for those who are eager to get their hands on the iPad, you have two months plus to start saving. Tell us which one you’d want to get and why.
