Apple amends internal iPod water damage policy

BGR reports that Apple is revising how they determine whether an iPod is damaged due to water seeping into the gadget. Previously, by looking at a series of Liquid Contact Indicators (LCI) found within the iPod (and iPhone), they can void the warranty if those Indicators are activated after contacting moisture.

With this change, Apple technicians will need to inspect the internals of the iPod to look for additional signs of water damage.

However, there is no indication that this amendment extends to iPhone.

This will definitely help us in Singapore where we are hit with rain every other day. Previously a single raindrop that lands near your earphone jack will activate the LCI and makes it difficult should something happen to your iPod.

iOS 4.2 a blessing for iPhone 3G?

That is according to the folks at TiPb who did a test with the GoldMaster seed of iOS 4.2 which usually is almost the final version.

When Apple first released iOS 4.0, there were plenty of complains from iPhone 3G users and I myself had experienced the lag when you try to do basic operations.

iPhone 3G’s hardware isn’t as fast and it’s RAM is literally a quarter of iPhone 4′s but it did a decent job typing, scrolling, pinching, and zooming its way around iOS 4.2.

See for yourself (click title for link to TiPb).
