Ask Google now? (updated – its here)

update – the updated Google Mobile App is here with voice search – but note the voice search function is disabled for iPod Touch users, even if you have a mic.

The next time some one puts their iPhone to talk, it might be to a Google robot, according to a New Yorks Times report. They said that Google is putting voice search into a free app (probably the Google Mobile App – iTunes Store link) by Friday (which has passed) that allows users to asks questions using their voice, where the sound byte, will be sent to Google servers, analyzed and put through the Google search engine and return you with the search results.

Sounds cool but as the app is not available yet, no one’s certain that the report is true. Especially so when this is not reported to be available on Google’s own Android phones. We’ll wait and see.
