Movies for us fanboys
Ever since the Pirates of Silicon Valley, as far as my mind can remember, there wasn’t any other movies that speaks to fanboys like us. But in the next few weeks, there will be TWO movies/documentaries out that will tug at our Mac fiber running through us.
First to be out is Welcome to Macintosh – The documentary for the rest of us.
“Welcome to Macintosh” is a documentary that explores the many ways Apple Computer (now Apple, Inc.) has changed the world. Whether a long time Mac fanatic or new to computers, Welcome to Macintosh takes you from the early days of the Apple-I to the latest the company has to offer.
Featuring famous Mac users like Guy Kawasaki, Leander Kahney of Cult of Mac, Andy Hertzfeld from the original Mac team and others, the documentary gives us an insight of the impact the company has made on the world, not from the PRs of Apple Inc but from people who have been there from Day 1 and who knows the company intimately.
The DVD will be shipped sometime soon in mid December can be pre-ordered at a price of US$19.84 (geddit?).
.h4 MacHEADS
MacHEADS – The Movie is the next movie that is in the horizon. This time the focus is less on the company, but on the people that uses the Mac – thus the name.
MacHEADS is a feature length documentary which explore the loyalty of Apple Fanatics and their obsession. The film takes an in-depth examination of just what makes the Mac, the iPhone, and Apple’s other products seem like cultural phenomena rather than just consumer electronics.
The documentary traces how the MacHEADS react to Apple from the early days when Apple struggled, after Steve Job’s second return, the release of iMacs, iPods and last year, the iPhone and how they react to Apple after the switch to Intel.
Two documentaries on the different sides of Apple – the company and the fans. Both I can’t wait to watch when they are available. Keep a look out, if I get my hands on them, maybe we can do a screening some place for all Mac fans here.
